Valero Alamo Bowl Balloon Installation | Party Hat Celebrations
Party Hat Celebrations created a custom balloon installation for the Valero Alamo Bowl at The Espee in San Antonio.
The design challenge was more than just decorating the space. Our installation needed to conceal the building name behind the event area while still creating a backdrop that felt fun, polished and connected to the Valero Alamo Bowl brand.
The Design Challenge
The event space included visible building signage that needed to be hidden from the main photo and event area.
Rather than treating that as a limitation, we designed the balloon installation and backdrop to completely transform the space.
The goal was to create something that:

Concealed the existing building name

Incorporated the Valero Alamo Bowl color palette

Created a strong visual focal point

Worked well for photos

Felt playful and energetic rather than overly corporate
A Custom Checkerboard Backdrop
We used a checkerboard-style backdrop to give the installation personality and visual movement.
The graphic backdrop provided enough coverage to hide the venue signage while also becoming part of the overall event design rather than simply functioning as a screen.
The checkerboard pattern helped keep the display fun and dynamic while the balloon colors tied the installation back to the Valero Alamo Bowl branding.
Balloon Decor Inspired by the Valero Alamo Bowl Colors
The balloon palette was selected to coordinate with the recognizable colors associated with the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Using multiple balloon sizes and a custom organic arrangement allowed us to frame the backdrop while keeping the design visually interesting from different angles.
The balloons helped soften the edges of the backdrop and create a more dimensional photo area for guests.
Designing Around the Venue
Custom balloon installations often require working with existing architecture, signs and venue features.
For this project, the installation had to do two jobs at once:

Create attractive branded event decor.

Hide a permanent venue element that did not belong in the event's visual presentation.
By combining the checkerboard backdrop with a substantial balloon installation, we were able to create a completely different visual environment within the existing space.
